Dr. Peggy Hunt came to
Radford University in 2002 as an Associate Professor. She teaches
composition, production, modern technique and directs the dance education
program. Choreography, performance and community involvement play a
central role in her career. She is the artistic director of Dancing Earth,
which has performed in Asia, the Pacific and the United States. At the
University of Hawaii she was faculty in Youth Theatre and Dance and
oversaw the graduate program in dance education. At the University of
North Carolina at Greensboro she taught in the dance teacher certification
program and was the artistic director for the UNCG Dance Touring Company
(1987-92) that performed for 200,000 children.
She was the founder and
artistic director of Terrestrial Theatre in Michigan for eleven years and
was a member of Meredith Monk’s “The House” in New York City. Dr. Hunt has
been a dance education consultant at the state, national and international
level and has been the recipient of many grants for her work. Current
projects include her on-going relationship as guest artist at LaSalle
University in Singapore, residencies in Brazil and the
United States and research on masks, movement and trance.
