Dr. Pegeen "Pogo" Albig's dance experience began in her home town of Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she studied ballet with John Neff.  In high school, she became a member of the Fort Wayne Civic Ballet.  She continued her ballet studies at Indiana University, earning a bachelor's degree and followed that up with a year of intensive study in New York at the American Ballet Center, home of the Joffrey Ballet. She then came to Radford to teach and has been privileged to be a part of the dance program since its beginnings. Pegeen met her future husband, Dave, at Radford; and he was the first to give her the nickname "Pogo".  A year after they were married, they went to graduate school at Florida State University, he for a PhD in Mathematics Education and she for a master's degree in dance.  Later, Pogo returned to FSU for her PhD.  She and Dave are the proud "parents" of three cats, one dog-in-residence, and two permanent visiting dogs.

Pogo has designed and taught many of the courses in the dance curriculum, including beginning and high intermediate modern (based on the technique of Martha Graham), dance composition, history and philosophy of dance, accompaniment for dance, methods of teaching dance, dance appreciation, and Pilates.  She also supervises students in independent studies and choreographs works for one or two performances a year.
